FERRAGAMO SPRING-SUMMER 2024 https://rexarcade.com.vn/en/ferragamo-spring-summer-2024/ Fri, 06 Oct 2023 08:37:40 +0000 https://www.dafc.com.vn/?p=16694 For Spring-Summer 2024, Maximilian Davis explores and evolves the codes he has developed at Ferragamo, imbuing his distinct aesthetic with organic ease while drawing on the relationship between balance and tension.

Ferragamo Spring-Summer 2024 Fashion Show

For Spring-Summer 2024, Maximilian Davis explores and evolves the codes he has developed at Ferragamo, imbuing his distinct aesthetic with organic ease while drawing on the relationship between balance and tension. “I wanted things to feel a lot lighter, both in terms of fabric and construction but also in terms of how people want to dress,” Davis explains. “There’s a familiarity I have found in the Italian way of dressing and living: an effortlessness which feels very Caribbean. The idea of doing everything at your own pace, on your own time.”

While drawing parallels between the spirit of Italian and Caribbean dress codes, the collection also finds inspiration in the situated contrasts of Italy’s Arte Povera movement, which often positioned natural materials alongside industrial elements and elevated the everyday through careful consideration. For Spring-Summer 2024, humble linens and cotton are approached with rigorous finesse, bonded onto satins for capes or treated to appear as leather; sculptural wooden accessories and details polished to perfection; precise silhouettes expressed in natural fabrics. “I really wanted the pieces to feel very pure and honest; for the collection to be relatable within a wardrobe, but interesting in terms of the touch of the hand.”

Throughout, there appears a subversive interplay between restraint and freedom: a slouching insouciance is expressed in the worn texture of leather tailoring, while pristine mid-century tailoring is slashed into fluidity. Viscose jersey drapery, rooted in Ferragamo’s Florentine heritage and echoed in 18th century Caribbean dress, now appears paired with the language of Renaissance armor: molded spazzolato leather bodices and rigid, high-shine inserts.

The perverse sensibility inherent to Davis’ work remains quietly omnipresent: elegant day dresses paired with high patent boots or cut deep at the chest, men’s loungewear shorts cropped high on the thigh, T-shirts twisted as though quickly pulled on. “Fetishism is something that runs through the DNA of my work,” he explains. “There’s something modern about incorporating that in your daily life and daily wardrobe.”

Shoes and Bags

Within the collection, that sentiment is clearly apparent within footwear: nappa latex shoes and gaucho lak boots draw on Davis’ aesthetic proclivities while using the craftsmanship of Ferragamo’s footwear ateliers to ensure comfort and wearability. A 1955 archival style, the Calypso, informs the design of a banana cage heel, now 3D printed and galvanized. “I wanted to find the codes that we explored in previous collections and reiterate them,” says Davis – and the familiar curvilinear heel of a platform now appears in horn as the foundation for a high-shine sandal, and a T-strap strung with natural beads and stones. For men, Ferragamo’s heritage is revived with a contemporary vocabulary: Oxfords, moccasins and driver shoes are deconstructed, or inset with contrasting vitello latex for a new twist on the classics.

Equally, handbags continue the graphic lines and geometric forms begun in previous collections: the contemporary classic, the Hug, appears as a high-shine pouch in a rainbow of saturated shades, as well as canvas and leather iterations. The luxurious Fiamma shoulder bag which distorts symmetries and repositions an archival Ferragamo lighter as its closure, appears throughout, while the frame bag is now fringed with wooden beads in the spirit of the season. For men, the understated purity of the Star takes centre stage, its meticulous, bonded construction and lack of hardware allowing for its softest and most lightweight form.

Tailoring, shapes, proportions, black and white and impeccable fabrics are the key elements of the collection – Woman SS24

A refined elegance, clean lines, clear and synthetic at times. This universe dialogues with the imagery of old Sicily, the masculine and feminine, the lace, the transparencies, the underwear, the opaque or perforated stockings, are all essentials that together invite us to read the brand’s DNA in a new way.

Transparency and underwear, the key elements of the new silhouette, together with careful research into proportions and volumes, special details contribute to the story of this ‘WOMAN’. Overlapping transparent corsets proposed on tulle dresses, creating a sculptural and surprising visual effect.

Black and white shirts proposed in various fabrics are reinvented in the large transparent volumes and in the details that are sometimes enriched with ruffles, high ruffled cuffs and lace details at the edges. Black Sicily and the 60s also return on strict little black dresses. The iconic Dolce Jacket is proposed in three versions – short, medium and long; then oversized and masculine jackets with pronounced shoulders, sometimes characterized by large lapels.

In the world of fabrics, our classics, Chantilly lace, wools, crepe, tulle, key elements of the new silhouette are once again contrasted with the masculine universe of plain wools and pinstripes with a slightly raw hand, reminding us of classic and timeless Sicilian tailoring. Large collars for trench coats with special volumes made of plain fabric or black, golden lace, mesh that are incorporated thanks to a special technique in transparent PVC, giving our classic fabrics a new and contemporary visual effect

Stefano and Domenico reinterpret their canons, once again investigating and narrating the different facets of women aware, seductive, and confident, creating a new Sicilian female image of extreme sensuality.

Among the guests present: Kylie Jenner, Bow Maylada, Halle Bailey, Bianca Balti,…

Dolce&Gabbana presents the Fall/Winter 2023-24 Men’s Campaign, starring its Korea-Japan Ambassador Doyoung from NCT group.

Music has always been one of the greatest sources of inspiration for Dolce&Gabbana and a powerful means of expression for the brand. Doyoung’s charisma and talent, an international K-pop icon, brought the artist to create his signature style, both in music and style.

His presence at the SS24 Men’s Fashion Show and at the Alta Sartoria Collection’s presentation in Puglia has further demonstrated the powerful synergy that Dolce&Gabbana and the talent can create together

In the campaign’s shots Doyoung wears Dolce&Gabbana Fall/Winter 2023-24 Men’s Collection looks which exemplify the purity of the volumes, the tailored cut, the innovative proportions, the selection of Italian fabrics, and the craftsmanship behind the Dolce&Gabbana “Fatto a Mano” way of working.

The embroidery top, decorated with black crystals that reminisce Sicily’s black volcanic rocks, and the tailored suits highlight the captivating elegance of the male figure.

Black is the key element that leads the collection; expressed in various materials, it reveals to the touch and to the eye its own characteristic elements: sensuality and elegance.

This is how the Dolce&Gabbana man will dress for the upcoming autumn-winter season.

Drawing inspiration from the past to create the fashion of the future is the philosophy of Dolce&Gabbana. It’s an intriguing game, a creative allure that breathes life into unique outfits like those in the new men’s Roma Collection FW 23/24. A tribute to the beauty of the Roman Empire captured through the iconic lens of Steven Meisel, featuring Leon Dame, David Gandy and Jon Kortajarena.

Revisiting chapters of history – and within this collection – the prints of ancient Roman coins stand out, etched with the profiles of great emperors. These small artistic creations, often accompanied by borders of miniature coins or laurel wreaths, have the ability to conquer an entire look: from soft shirts to Bermuda shorts, from handbags to belts and sandals. The graphic power of this print is further enhanced by a color palette revolving around warm shades such as earthy brown, sand, hemp, camel, progressing from creamy white to black with hints of gold.

The designers’ journey into Ancient Rome continues towards the definition of a softer, more relaxed sartoriality, where a series of sensual looks take center stage. Composed of robes, tank tops, oversized trousers, and a cascade of transparent fabrics, including shantung, silk twill, poplin, and cotton, the result is an authentic and sophisticated wardrobe that reinvents the standards of street style, shaping a new concept of male hedonism.

ZIMMERMANN FALL 2023: LUMINOSITY https://rexarcade.com.vn/en/zimmermann-fall-2023-luminosity/ Thu, 17 Aug 2023 08:35:07 +0000 https://www.dafc.com.vn/?p=15131 Zimmermann returned to Paris and show Fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection.

“For fall I was inspired by the artwork of Rupert Bunny, an Australian artist from the turn of the last century. I was drawn to his use of color and the romanticism of his work – the g entle and dreamy lifestyle scenes. There is a glow, warmth, and optimism in his work that is really appealing to me. I was given the opportunity to work with a selection of his paintings by the National Victorian Gallery and we have crafted these into some of our key collection prints. Bunny’s works have also influenced the mood of the collection more generally” – Creative Director, Nicky Zimmermann

Zimmermann Lyrical Embroidery Mini Dress

That mood is Languid. Luminous. Lush. A refreshing stroll through a wardrobe of romantic silhouettes, indulgent textures, and lounge-worthy separates remixed with a strong dose of denim and boxy tailoring.

Artist Rupert Bunny’s idyllic scenes play out across floating skirts and draped dresses; the essence carried through in the lingerie cues of slip dresses, lace bodysuits, and floating, sheer fabrications in sepia tones of dirty mustard, faded lilac, and macadamia.

Zimmermann looked to the artworks of Rupert Bunny for inspiration, integrating these into designs for fall 2023.

Zimmermann’s signature for dramatic proportions and generous flounce finds itself dressed down and spliced up by layers of tweed, smooth chocolate leather, and cozy wool knits. Petite bralettes and wool bustiers are enveloped by wide-shouldered suiting and wrap-me-up doona jackets.

A particular focus on denim brings an intentionally easy attitude to dressing for the season. Breezy nightgown shirt dresses overlay Briny Blue stove pipes. Faded vintage washes are mixed and matched with intense ruffled knit-lace tops in peachy hues, and draped minis. A double-breasted blazer completes an all-denim look, featuring custom hardware, worn with embroidered cowboy boots.

Bouncy black evening dresses with embroidered poetry diverge into several simple and elegant LBDs. A rich velvet sheath gown with an off-the-shoulder cream lace bodice is equal parts indulgent and restrained. Shimmering tones contrast the black – shining in slinky lurex translucent prints, with gold and opal jewelry statements. Always buoyed in luminosity.

Ferragamo Fall-Winter 23 campaign: Ferragamo New Renaissance

The story of Ferragamo is not simply, as the founder put it, “the story of the small, barefoot, unlettered boy who became a famous shoemaker”. It is also the story of constant rebirth and evolution. Certainly Salvatore Ferragamo, born in the village of Bonito, the 11th child of 14, who had been making beautiful footwear since the age of 12, was reborn in the States as a young Italian artisan who understood the desires of Hollywood. That was Ferragamo’s first Renaissance.

This transformation was achieved through embracing Italian heritage with daring talent. The interiors of his store at 6683 Hollywood Boulevard were pure Italian Renaissance: walls featuring batik resembling 14th-century tapestries, hand-carved sofas, and luxurious draperies complementing classical columns. Though from the Avellino region near Naples, as an Italian, Salvatore was under the spell of Florence, the “Jewel of the Renaissance”, and imbued with the spirit of that place and time; he understood its power and resonance. So, when a few years later he decided to return to Italy there was only one place that would do: Florence. A new Ferragamo Renaissance had begun.

The Italian Renaissance was a time of intense creativity and new ideas. It celebrated innovation and craftsmanship, and married art and artisan excellence. All this was in evidence at Palazzo Spini Feroni, the home Salvatore gave to Ferragamo in Florence in 1927. Dating back to the 13th-century, the Palazzo, which is still Ferragamo’s headquarters, seemed emblematic of the Florentine bottega, the workshop or studio of the master artists and craftsmen where dialogue and the exchange of ideas and knowledge allowed Renaissance thinkers, intellectuals and artists to develop local philosophy and skills into a global phenomenon.

Multiple rebirths were required along the way – after the Great Depression, after the Second World War – but always the power of creativity prevailed and the “shoemaker to the stars”, as Salvatore became known, like his Renaissance forebears, did enchant the world.

Throughout this time, a creative community fed the founder’s imagination and broadcast his Florence-infused collections. This included not only Salvatore’s fellow craftsmen, but also his extraordinary clientele: the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Sophia Loren, Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe and Eva Perón (years later Madonna would wear Ferragamo when she played Perón in Evita).

Central to the Florentine experience that drove Ferragamo’s creativity, the symbol of the beating heart of the city’s continual celebration of the Renaissance, was the Uffizi. Started by Giorgio Vasari as offices – uffizi – for Cosimo I de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, in 1569,it was one of the earliest modern museums, opening its gallery to the public in 1769 and becoming a museum just under a century later. Throughout the history of the house of Ferragamo in Florence, the Uffizi has been there, a guiding light, reminding the importance of fresh ideas, art, beauty and creativity.

Today Ferragamo is experiencing a contemporary Renaissance and partners with the Uffizi to showcase Creative Director Maximilian Davis ‘collection of sensual, elegant an sophisticated ready-to-wear, shoes and bags for Autumn/Winter 2023, using some of the most famous artworks of the 15th and 16th centuries to act as settings for his work. By placing the sharp tailoring and exquisite suiting, the richly textured fabrics and the bold materials and colours, the Hug bag and the archive inspired gold sandal in the context of works by Bellini, Veronese and Botticelli, Davis has created a dialogue between past and present, where both the spirit of the Renaissance and the world of 21st-century luxury are thrown into different relief by juxtaposition.

And just as founder Salvatore collaborated with an artistic community, Davis has invited a group of creatives to feature in the pictures taken by photographer Tyler Mitchell. The New Renaissance campaign narrates a community in the making, with a cast of characters portraying models, musicians and creators that inhabit the artwork-based mise en scene, animating them in a contemporary way.

Maximilian Davis says: “The Renaissance is hardwired into Florence, and Florence is hardwired into Ferragamo. At this time of a new beginning at the house, it made perfect sense to reclaim the cradle of the Renaissance as our spiritual home, and to harness the deep, artistic spirit of this city to showcase the new collection.”

In a parallel series of images, Ferragamo’s contemporary Florentine bottega is also brought to life, as Tyler Mitchell captures the connectivity of Maximillian Davis’ group of models, and even steps from behind the lens to participate as one himself. These visual insights into a modern-day artist’s studio have precedents from the Renaissance to today, from an image of Tintoretto in his bottega, via Gustav Courbet’s famous The Artist’s Studio to Richard Avedon’s Andy Warhol and members of The Factory. Mitchell’s depiction of the new Ferragamo community serve to show how through participation and collaboration people can achieve self-expression..

Just as the Renaissance masters of craftmanship and art in Florence came to be esteemed all over world for their creative achievements, so today Ferragamo is constructing its future through the skilled hands of its artisans, the study and evolution of its heritage, the harnessing of new, creative talents, and the establishing of its community.

Welcome to Ferragamo’s New Renaissance.

The sunset on Ostuni, the white city, painting the typical apulian houses in the most beautiful shades of pink and orange is the perfect backdrop for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Alta Sartoria collection.

The traditions of Southern Italy, a keystone of the Dolce&Gabbana imaginary, are the base of the inspiration for the show, especially the ancient tradition of the Corredo – the bridal kit, which mothers used to start preparing when a baby girl was born.

White linen tablecloths, nightgowns, bed sheets and napkins ornately decorated with lace used to be presented to the girl when she married. These were then passed down from generation to generation, just as the Designers intend their clothes to live.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have sourced antique Corredi and repurposed them in jackets, suits, coats, taking what was typically destined for women and repurposing it for the highest form of men’s tailoring, Alta Sartoria..

Beige, White and a dash of Brown, along with Dolce&Gabbana’s classical Black are the colours of this Collection, punctuated with gold thread and enriched by meticulous embroidery. The Designers have also taken the ceramics of Grottaglie, world-renowned for their beauty and originally from Ostuni, and used them to adorn several looks of the show.

Ostuni

Between the Itria Valley and the Alto Salento lies the enchanting Ostuni, known throughout the world as the ‘Città Bianca’ (‘White City’). this nickname stems from the dazzling dominance of white in the town’s ancient core, entirely whitewashed with lime, which according to legend served as a deterrent to enemies approaching from the sea, blinding them with its brightness.

The historic centre of Ostuni, which the Apulians have always called ‘Terra’ (land, earth), clings to the steep sides of a hill and is surrounded by walls with towers that date back to the Messapians, an ancient population that founded this enchanted place as early as 1,000 BC. Over the centuries, all the conquering peoples — from the Ostrogoths to the Lombards, from the Moors to the Spaniards — continued to reinforce its walls, contributing to the preservation of the authentic beauty and pristine purity of this extraordinary place.

Piazza della Libertà is the beating heart of Ostuni. Its distinctive triangular shape is due to the numerous renovations it has undergone over the centuries. Facing the square are a former Franciscan convent, now the town hall, the adjacent church of San Francesco and, further away, the church of Santo Spirito and the archaeological remains of an ancient fortification.

Dolce&Gabbana will show the collection in this very square as a homage to Ostuni, an authentic open-air scenic space as unique as every Alta Sartoria creation
